It's simple. You submit your job and data, we process and prepare it, print and finish it to spec, then despatch it, with full tracking and reporting throughout. You can read more on how it works on our Our Process page.

When printing in colour, the more detail we receive, the better the finished print will look. Low resolution or small images will appear blocky once enlarged. Vector artwork is preferable wherever possible. A PDF file can contain both vector and raster (bitmap) data.

There are two types of digital graphics file: vector and raster. Raster images are made up of pixels stored in a grid, a JPG is a common example, and these images can't be enlarged without exposing that underlying pixel grid. Vector images are stored as points, lines and curves, which are rendered at any size on demand. This makes them far better suited to enlargement and printing at the highest specification our printers can achieve.

We can receive files via our secure FTP server. To send files this way, you'll need an SFTP client installed. There are several options available, and we recommend FileZilla as it's free and easy to use. Connection details for our server will be sent on request. We also provide a website accessible version with login details, if you'd prefer to transfer files directly through your browser.

Many companies want a signature at the bottom of their letters. We can use a scan of a signature or a physical copy on your correspondence. Please scan signatures at the highest resolution your scanner allows.

Paper weight is measured in grams per square metre (gsm), not the weight of each individual page. The most common weight for printing is 80 to 90gsm. To work out the weight of an A4 sheet at 90gsm, multiply the sheet dimensions in metres by the weight: 0.21 x 0.297 x 90 = 5.6g.

Duplex refers to printing on both sides of the page, which can reduce postage costs through weight saving. Simplex is single sided printing, preferred when there's enough room in the envelope for the extra paper.

To print right to the edge of a page, artwork is printed on a slightly larger sheet and then cut down to size. The bleed is the portion of the image that gets trimmed away, and the crop marks show exactly where the cut should be made. A larger bleed area allows more tolerance when cutting, which can be carried out to the nearest millimetre.
